About Us
Founded by Chick Fryer, a former police officer, Central Florida Police Athletic League was envisioned as a provider of recreational services that would help fight crime through prevention of juvenile delinquency.
The organization was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1976. Central Florida Police Athletic League was to be unique among other PALs in that it would serve the Greater Orlando community and not be restricted to the specific boundaries of the City of Orlando and the jurisdiction of the Orlando Police Department. The Central Florida Police Athletic League's mission is to prevent juvenile crime and violence, develop citizenship skills and promote
respect for the law by providing athletic, educational and recreational opportunities to assist at-risk youth in Central Florida. Through our programs we foster a sense of self-respect as well as respect for others and respect for the law. The services we provide are offered to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 years old.
Our services can be divided into two programs. Educational and Youth Sports. Programs are funded by Heart of Florida United Way, City of Orlando, and Orange County -- Citizens Commission for Children and foundation, corporate, individual and civic partners. Law enforcement partnerships are in place with the City of Orlando and Winter Garden Police Departments.
For 31 years, we have locally provided these services to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. We have the responsibility of improving our quality of services by offering exceptional programs and expanding our program into new communities. It is our vision to establish Central Florida Police Athletic as an umbrella organization with multiple, smaller PALs operating in individual municipalities and providing services tailored to the individual needs and preferences of each community.
While this ambitious goal has not yet been reached, it remains a long-term aspiration of the organization. We are inviting friends, community partners and local businesses to join us in building a strong future for our children because we must invest in our children! We are apart of the State of Florida Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues, Inc and the National Police Athletic League.
